2026 VISITS
On Thursday 5th March 10 members of the Local History group visited The Box to view the exhibition Beryl Cook: Pride and Joy.
The exhibition marks 100 years since Beryl’s birth and it features more than 80 works, some rarely seen.
It was a very enjoyable and uplifting visit.
2025 Visits
Thursday 5th June. We visited Ford Park Cemetery Visitor’s Centre to view the exhibition on Plymouth in the 1920s.
The exhibition covered many areas of Plymouth Life in the 1920s; the fortunes of Plymouth Argyle, the development of swimming pools, local transport, development of housing after the First World War and much more, all of great interest.
The volunteer team, two of whom are Plympton u3a members, put together the exhibition should be congratulated on their hard work and 1st class presentation of all the information.
Our May meeting to Totnes had to be cancelled.
Wednesday 2nd April A visit to Devonport Naval Heritage Museum. Having succeeded in the challenge of finding the Museum we were amazed by the variety of the displays and artefacts.
We all opted for the guided tour and we were not disappointed as our Guide was so very knowledgeable, the 2 hours simply flew by. As there was such a wide range of displays there was something of special interest for everyone.
We all said that we would probably make a return visit as there was so much to see.
We always welcome new members to join this group.
