The Group meets to explore the variety of gardens open to the public in Devon and Cornwall. We exchange our gardening views and knowledge as we walk and talk. These conversations are usually refined over afternoon tea and cakes!
Our visits are arranged throughout the growing season - Spring to Autumn and a contribution should be made by passengers to the car driver at the rate of £1 per 10 miles based on the outward journey only.

Garden Visits
2026 GEOFF'S GARDEN VISITS
Sunday 7th June. Visit to Diptford Village Gardens
There were 10 gardens open in aid of St Lukes and some of our group managed to visit them all!
It was certainly interesting to venture beyond the garden gates and to be able to view such a variety of gardens. We also visited the church to see the many flower arrangements in honour of the church’s 800th birthday.
As for the necessary refreshments, we were spoilt for choice by the wide array of cakes!
MAY
May’s Garden Visit was a little closer to home at Stroll Gardens near Yelverton, another garden which was open as part of the St Lukes Open Garden scheme.
This was a huge garden with lots of different areas to enjoy. Refreshments were available from what had once been the donkey’s stable now renovated into a palatial summer house.
We enjoyed sunshine and the wonderful cakes - as usual !!
APRIL
Our first visit of the year was to Morval Hidden Gardens near Looe which were open as part of St Luke’s Open Garden scheme. There were 2 gardens to view, both spectacular with their spring flowers and beautiful trees. The woodland close to the parking area and the lane which we walked down on our way to the gardens were overrun with bluebells and wonderfully scented wild garlic. Refreshments were served at the church. A very enjoyable afternoon in the sunshine.
