Plympton, an ancient Stannary town located in Devon, was historically significant for the collection and assaying of tin during medieval times. It sits between the city of Plymouth on the English Channel coast and Dartmoor to the north.
Our most famous son is Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA FRS FRSA born in Plympton St Maurice in 1723 who became a founder and first President of the Royal Academy.
